Why can't students skip problems? What should students do if they don't know how to answer a problem?

We block students from skipping problems based on feedback we received early on from teachers, who reported that too many of their students would simply skip through the online tests without trying in their rush to complete the assessment.

We recommend students "give their best guess" on a problem they do not know. All the items have three possible answer choices: a correct answer, a ‘far’ distractor (an answer that is clearly wrong), and a ‘near’ distractor (an answer that is conceivable, but is not correct).
