Assigning Online Benchmark Tests
Benchmark test are only administered on-grade and by the program, not the teacher. To start the benchmark testing process, make sure you have first created groups and activated students within them.
A few items to know about benchmark tests. These tests are just screeners, that are given three times a year (Fall, Winter, and Spring), to determine if a student is performing on-grade or not as these tests are aligned to content and performance standards for students in their actual grade in school.
If a student scores at the 50th percentile or greater, they are considered on-grade and no further testing is needed until the next benchmark testing period. If they do not meet the 50th percentile, then testing with progress monitoring measures and guided instruction should be implemented until the next benchmark testing period.
For the program to assign tests to students, you will need to have the benchmark testing dates open. When the tests are available is determined a setting in your account.
To set/adjust dates, go to the Account tab and click on Manage Settings. In the Benchmark Window Settings, adjust the opening and closing dates for Fall. Winter, and Spring testing. Each window should only span 3 weeks or less. A benchmark window needs to be current for testing and only one testing window open at a time. The dates also need to be moving forward in time.
Once these items are in place, the students will find these tests available to take when they login to their student portal.
