Student Retention

Once you retain a student, testing proceeds as it normally would. The only difference will be in where the retention information is kept and how it is displayed..

Retention feature

Our program only allows a student to take a test once and will only record one score per test. When a student remains in the same grade as the previous school year, we have a feature that assists teachers with retesting students while retaining the original scores.

The retention feature archives the original test scores in the student's Assessment History while the retained (new) scores will be listed under the Retention section (found just below the student's Assessment History). The graphed retention results will appear in the student;s Individual Report and the graph will be labeled Retained..

Once you have used the retention feature, all you need do is administer the test to the student as you normally would. The 'Retain Student' feature is intended to be employed only once per year, at the beginning of the academic school year.

Here is a walk-through of the Retention feature:

Retaining a student

To retain a student, login to your account and click on the Students tab and locate the student’s name in the "Students" column. To the right of their name is a blue magnifying glass icon. This icon may be hard to see but it is located to the right of the student's name and is within the black box with the student name (enlarged in the screenshot below).

Click on the icon and a summary list of assessments for that student will appear in a drop down window. Scroll down the page and you will find the box called Retentions. Click on the Retain Student button to activate this feature.

If you don't see the Retention feature then scroll down the page.

Location of retained scores

In the screenshot below, the Assessment History has the new scores and a Retention section has the scores from the previous year.

Archived test submissions will also appear in individual reports, benchmark history, and a student record. If a student is to be properly retained multiple times, this action must be performed each year they are retained (regardless of grade or current retention status).

In the Individual Report graphed example below, both test scores are displayed.
